Flight Lieutenant James Henry Foy DFC, MiD (RCAF) survived and evaded capture, working with the French Resistance to help downed air crew escape capture. For eight months he helped guide evaders from Paris, France over the Pyrenees Mountains into Spain and onwards to Gibraltar before using the same route to return to the UK in April 1944
