433 Porcupine Squadron (Qui S'y Frotte S'y Pique). Lancaster aircraft NC 460 had been hit by flak over the target Ludwigshaven, Germany. The aircraft returned to England and when it was flying at 3,000 feet over Yorkshire it went out of control and crashed near Dishforth, Yorkshire. Flying Officer D.J. McMillan, P/Os J.T. McShane, R. Pierson, and Pilot Officer E.H. Thompson (RAF) were also killed. Two Canadians were uninjured. This was Squadron Leader Stinson's 24th operation.
