George Pryce Hughes was a native of Argentina and cousin of Richard Pryce Hughes from England. They had both been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina before leaving together 1940-09-27 for Canada, where they both enlisted in the RCAF
Pilot Officer Richard Pryce Hughes (RCAF) attached to the 10 (RAF) Squadron, was killed in action 1942-04-15 while piloting #10 Squadron RAF Halifax R 9492 ZA-G that crashed in England returning from an operation to Dortmund, Germany, low on fuel. Pilot Officer Hughes stayed at the controls of his aircraft while his crew bailed and was killed when the bomber crashed while attempting an emergency landing
