106 Squadron (Pro Libertate). Lancaster aircraft crashed one half mile north-east of Conningsby, believed engine failure. Pilot Officer W.B. Carlyle, FSs J.E. Walker, A.G. Gibson, Sergeants J.K. Marshman (RAAF), R.M. Mathieson (RAF), and one other member of the crew, not Canadian, were also killed. addendum 2: See page 299. Lancaster aircraft R 5576 stalled on take-off for a training flight due to engine failure. The aircraft crashed one half mile north-east of Coningsby. P/O. W.B. Carlyle, FS.s J.E. Walker, A.G.
