51 Squadron (Swift And Sure) RAF Snaith, Halifax Mk III LW-364 MH-B was returning from the target at night in poor weather conditions and was diverted to Driffield airfield to land. Flying in drizzle and very low cloud, the aircraft flew into high ground at Holm on the Wolds, Yorkshire, England

Pilot Officer JC Davies (RCAF), FS EA Blackburn (RAFVR), FS CA Bramwell (RAFVR), Sergeant JF Cope (RAFVR), Sergeant J Hilton (RAFVR) and FS A Murray (RAFVR) were killed in the crash. The rear gunner Sergeant DT Brady (RAFVR) seriously injured, survived
