On 1951-04-26 at 1745 hours, Flying Officer J. Collins, a pilot on Refresher Course Number 3 was killed when Harvard 3029 crashed two and a half miles north of the town of Gimli. The Aircraft was demolished.

Article in The Winnipeg Tribune on 1951-04-27 Mentions a RCAF Student Pilot from Quebec, possibly named Black being killed at Gimli on Thursday 26 April 1951.

1951-04-26 - At 1746 hours today. 39027 Flying Officer J Collins, a pilot on Refresher Course No 2 was killed when Harvard aircraft 3029 crashed 2 1/2 miles north of the town of Gimli. Burial took place at Montreal, Quebec, where the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Joan D Collins resided. Newspaper clippings and photographs of the accident are appended as annex "H" and "J".
