206 Sqn (Nihil Nos Effugit) RAF Leuchars, Fife, Scotland. Liberator GR VI aircraft FV 885 failed to return from an anti-submarine patrol over the North Sea, last reported position was 25 miles West of Varhaug, Norway and is believed to have been attacked by enemy aircraft. Pilot Officer AM Cleland (RCAF), Pilot Officer LG McKinnon (RCAF), Pilot Officer JA Nadeau (RCAF)(USA), Flying Officer TMC Ball (RAF), Flying Officer PF Carlisle DFC (RAFVR), Warrant Officer KD Fox (RAFVR), Sergeant JA Gillett (RAFVR), FS WR Hoyle DFM (RAFVR) and Warrant Officer WG Lewis (RAFVR) were all missing, believed killed. These air crew members have no known graves and are all commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial. Pilot Officer Nadeau (then F/S) and FS Hoyle had been injured in 206 Sqn Liberator GR VI EV 873 on July 20,1944, when it crashed on take-off with a full load of fuel and depth charges.
