206 Sqn (Nihil Nos Effugit) RAF Leuchars, Fife, Scotland. Liberator GR VI aircraft FV 885 failed to return from an anti-submarine patrol over the North Sea, last reported position was 25 miles West of Varhaug, Norway and is believed to have been attacked by enemy aircraft. Pilot Officer JA Nadeau (RCAF)(USA) missing, presumed killed. Pilot Officer Nadeau has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial. Pilot Officer Nadeau (then F/S) had been injured in 206 Sqn Liberator GR VI EV 873 on July 20,1944, when it crashed on take-off with a full load of fuel and depth charges. Flight Sergeant Nadeau and FS WR Hoyle (RAFVR) were thrown clear and slightly injured.
