Together, Flying Officer Kay (RAFVR) and crewmate Flight Sergeant Fulsher (RCAF) evaded for a time with the help of the resistance until they were betrayed and arrested near Paris. Held originally at Fresnes Prison in France, later deported to Germany, Flying Officer Kay was one of 168 Allied Airmen imprisoned at Buchenwald Concentration Camp until the German Luftwaffe intervened and had these prisoners moved to Luftwaffe controlled POW camps. Flying Officer Kay eventually was sent to Stalag Luft 3
