Took off from Kinloss at 20:30 in Halifax Mark II (Sqn code: TL-S Bomber Command).

Damaged by flak and crash landed on the ice of Lake Hocklingen, Norway

Crew made their escape and avoided numerous search parties. After walking through deep snow, across mountains, the crew travelled 45 miles and Sergeant Blanchet crossed the Swedish border and reached Skalsrugan on 3 May 1942. Repatriated to England 5 May 1942
