61 Squadron (Per Puram Tunantes). Lancaster aircraft ME 591 was shot down in the Osterloh District near Essen, Germany whilst attacking Leipzig, Germany. Pilot Officer J.F. Allen and three RAF members of the crew were also killed. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
