78 Squadron (Nemo Non Paratus). Halifax aircraft W 7782 missing subsequent to take-off. One Canadian, Sergeant Brandon, was taken Prisoner of War. Pilot Officer E.W.T. Gibbs (RAF) and Flight Lieutenant P.H. Tippetts-Aylmer D.F.C. (RAF) were also killed. Three others of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
