44 Rhodesia Squadron (Fulmina Regis lusta). Lancaster aircraft LM 434 lost during a night operation against Wesseling, Germany. Two Canadians, WOs Tobin and Ron Schott were taken Prisoner of War. There were two 44 Sqdn. aircraft lost in the same area this night. Those killed included the following seven RAF airmen; Sergeants J.D. Barber, D. Blackie, L.H. Bozier, R.W. Brett, PO. T.S. Calder, P/C. N.J.W. Scholtz, FS M.W.B. Steele, and Flying Officer N.J. Smith (RAAF). FAG has birthdate listed as 1924-01-03
