502 Squadron (Nihil Timeo). Halifax aircraft HR 689 had its port outer propeller break off when it hit a Fortress aircraft during take-off. The Halifax crashed a few moments later when the pilot tried to land on the aerodrome at St Eval. Flying Officer W. Yeulett, Warrant Officer G.E. Taggart and Pilot Officer S.A. Christie were also killed. Sergeant Flight Engineer Vesey is buried in the St Columb Major Cemetery, St Columb, Cornwall, England.
