514 Squadron (Nil Obstare Potest). Lancaster aircraft LL 653 missing during a night operation, a raid against Stuttgart, Germany. Flying Officer K.T. Penkuri, Warrant Officer L.A. Wry, Sergeants G. Cosgrove (RAF), TN. Owen (RAF), K.E. Peake (RAF), FS, D.J. Kilner (RAF), and FS K. Drummond (RNZAF), were also killed. FS Drummond was the extra pilot on his first trip before taking his crew on operations. This was one of 94 Allied bombers lost this night.
