Halifax BII aircraft W 1275 EY- failed to return from an operation over Krefeld, Germany, believed intercepted by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Reinhold Knacke of the 1/NJG 1, who was flying a Bf 110 F-4 from Venlo airfield in the Netherlands. The Halifax crashed north of Herongen, Straelen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

FS TA Stephenson (RCAF), FS F Christie (RAFVR), Sergeant HM Clark (RAFVR), Flight Lieutenant GC Foers (RAFVR), Sergeant L Millband (RAF)(AAF) and Pilot Officer VH Parry (RAFVR) were all killed in action

Sergeant TL Kidd (RCAF) and Flying Officer GM Hobbs (RAF) survived and were taken as Prisoners of War
