77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Halifax aircraft LW 290 went down 33 miles south by south-west of the target during night operations against Berlin, Germany. FS W.E. Ackland was also killed, five of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Addendum: The squadron was based at Elvington when aircraft No. LW 290-U went missing. The RAF members of this crew who were also killed were Sgt.s W. Eaton, J. Robertson, L.L. Green, and W. Allen. FS. E.A. Davies (RAF) was taken Prisoner Of War.
