76 Squadron (Resolute). Target - Wangerooge, Germany. Halifax aircraft RG 553 crashed on Wangerooge Island. F/Os M.C. Slaughter, C.R. Morrison, Pilot Officer R.I. Sweet, and two RAF members of the crew were also killed. One Canadian, Pilot Officer Lawson was taken Prisoner of War. There were two 76 Sqdn. aircraft lost over the same target on this date.
