192 Squadron. Target - Aachen, Germany. Halifax aircraft MZ 501 was on a special operation and was shot down at St Trond, Belgium. P/Os A.0 Macallivray, C.D. Stroud, Pilot Officer P. Hicken (RAF), Flying Officer J.D. Hurley (RAF), Sergeants P.J. Jeffs (RAF), R. Rook (RAF), and J. Shields (RAF) were also killed. One Canadian, Flying Officer Gaunt, was either an Evader or was taken Prisoner of War. Pilot Officer Navigator Sabine was buried at St Trond, exhumed, and reburied in the War Cemetery, Heverlee, Brabant, Belgium.
