622 Squadron (Bellamus Noctu). Aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed into woods at Pot-de-Vin, between Cirey-sur-Vezouze (Meurthe-et-Moselle) & Petitmont France. Flying Officer Peabody was captured (with Flying Officer Doe) by the Germans while walking on French road on 1944-07-31 after being betrayed by a local women. They were sent to Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp where they was executed by hanging on 1944-07-31. Their bodies were cremated.
