148 Squadron (Trusty). Halifax aircraft BB 412 was engaged on a secret operation when it crashed and burned in the mountains twenty-five miles north-east of Turin near Donninzoni, Evrea, Italy. Pilot Officer J.E. O'Brien, Warrant Officer RA. Crowell, FSs J.H. Ireland, A.M. Vanderhart, two of the crew and five passengers, not Canadians, were also killed.
