50 Squadron (From Defence To Attack). Lancaster aircraft LL 842 was shot down at Nogent-LeRotrou, France during a night operation, an attack against Stuttgart, Germany. Flying Officer J.M. Neal, Pilot Officer D.S. Campbell, Sergeants L. Salway (RAF), and T.W. Thompson (RAF) were also killed. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
