626 Squadron (To Strike And Not To Yield). Lancaster aircraft LM 596 exploded in the air over Grunwald, Germany during a night operation to Duisburg, Germany. F/Os J.C. Campbell, R.A. Charland, R.C. Clouston, and Pilot Officer R.M. Champagne were also killed. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Addendum: F/O. J.A. On (RAF), Sgt.s T.G. Reynolds (RAF), and Si.
