626 Squadron (To Strike And Not To Yield). Lancaster aircraft PA 190 failed to return from operations against Nordhausen, Germany. FSs L. Cockerham and J.L. Cooke were also killed. Four of the crew, not Canadians, missing presumed killed.
Addendum: F/0.s L.K. Driver (RNZAF), J.G. Hallowell (RAF), Sgt.s G.W.E. Keeble, and A.W. Scott (RAF) were also killed.
