77 Squadron (Esse Potius Qualm Videri). Halifax aircraft LW269 was shot down at Ihringshausen, Germany during night operations against Kassel, Germany. Six RAF members of the crew were also killed. There were two 77 Sqdn. aircraft lost in the same area on this date. Please see Flying Officer B.G. Foley for information regarding the other aircraft and crew.Addendum: The squadron was based at Elvington when aircraft No. LW 269-T went down, The RAF members of this crew who were also killed were Sgt.s J.F.A. Bailey, D.H. Douglas, J.B.E. Birrell, J.P. Belfield, R.Wilson, and PfO A.T. Parker. This completes this crew list. The aircraft number was not LE 269.
