Flight Lieutenant Munro was killed during his second tour of ops. when his Lancaster aircraft PB 517 went missing during daylight operations against Hamburg, Germany. P/Os I.W. Kelly, R.C. Fletcher, FS K. Antcliffe (RAF), E.H. Marlow (RAF), Flying Officer T.M. McCabe (RAF), F/Ls G.A.J. Morrison (RAF), and A.C. Pope D.F.C. (RAF) were also killed.
