51 Squadron (Swift And Sure). Halifax aircraft HR 869 missing, presumed over the target Nuremberg, Germany. Pilot Officer Donald J. Cameron was also killed and five of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Pilot Officer Maughan was killed during his 26th op. and had been slightly injured on August 12, 1942 in a Whitley aircraft accident while assigned to 24 Operational Training Unit.
Addendum: RAF crew members. FS. G.C. Carrington, F/L. T.R. Dobson, Sgt.s D.W. Kemp, A.A. McGregor, and K. Menieks were also killed.
