61 Squadron (Per Purann Tunantes). Lancaster aircraft PA 998 was shot down eight miles north-west of the target Darmstadt, Germany at Gross Gerral. Pilot Officer A.J. Anderson and Flight Lieutenant E.R. Church were also killed. Two Canadians, Flying Officer S.A. Fleming and Pilot Officer W.E. Lewis were taken Prisoners of War. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. addendum 2: See page 393. Sgt. T. Moffat (RAF) was also killed and Sgt. D. Dunkley (RAF) was taken Prisoners Of War.
