97 Squadron (Achieve Your Aim), Pathfinder Force. Lancaster aircraft The aircraft was flying in formation with 189 Sqn Lancaster PB691 CA-D. 207 Lancasters and One Mosquito of 5 Group attacked the synthetic oil refinery at Politz near Stettin.

While cruising over the south part of Norway, the aircraft went out of control and crashed on the slope of a wooded hill. All seven crew members were killed. Cause of crash unknown. ORB reports weather at target was clear.
