78 Squadron (Nemo Non Paratus). Halifax aircraft MZ 340 was shot down on the way into the target at Foret De Nieppe, France. Flight Lieutenant Hoffman kept the aircraft under control so that his crew could bail out. One Canadian, Sergeant Laing, was taken Prisoner of War. Flying Officer R.H. Winter (RAF) was also killed and four of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed taken Prisoners of War.
