433 Porcupine Squadron (Qui S'y Frotte S'y Pique). Target - Ile De Cezembre, Northern France. During this low-level attack the released bombs exploded causing Halifax aircraft MZ 879 to stall and crash in the sea. Flying Officer J.R. Beveridge, P/Os J.R. Hawkins, L.S. Guernsey, G.W. Pharis, W.L. Long, and Sergeant C.W. Garrett (RAF) were also killed.
