78 Squadron (Nemo Non Paratus). The crew of Halifax aircraft MZ 311 were assigned to mine-laying operations off the west Coast of France when their aircraft crashed four miles north-east of Cheltenham, Gloster at Cleeve Hill. Flight Lieutenant C.M. Howes, F/Os E.E. Freeman, J.A. Glenn, G.W. McCartney, and two of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed.
