Lancaster aircraft PB 127 was shot down three miles south of Essen, at Quackenbruck, Germany whilst engaged in night operations against Brunswick, Germany. F/Os G.E. Blandford (RAF), A.W. Hickling (RAF), Sergeants R. Ginn (RAF), D. Gutteridge (RAF), and D.C. Mardling (RAF) were also killed. One other member of the crew, not Canadian, taken Prisoner of War.
