156 Squadron (We Light The Way), Pathfinder Force. Flight Lieutenant Freeman had completed over thirty trips and had begun his second tour of operations when his Lancaster aircraft PB 186 went down during a night trip to Stuttgart, Germany. Flying Officer D. Watson and Pilot Officer J.F. Kaviza were also killed. Four of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
