9 Squadron (Per Noctem Volamus). Lancaster aircraft JA 957 missing from night operations against St Leu D'Esserent, France. F/Os J. Wenger, D. Elphick, G.A. White, Flying Officer P.D. Blackham (RAF), and Sergeant V.C.A. Stokes (RAF) were also killed. One of the crew, not Canadian, missing believed killed. It is believed that all the crew were shot as they were coming down in their parachutes.
