Lancaster aircraft JA-916 was shot down at Zehrensdorf, Germany during a night operation to Berlin, Germany. One Canadian, Pilot Officer J.K. McAvoy, was taken Prisoner of War.

Addendum: - Distinguished Flying Cross - No.97 Squadron - Award effective 6 August 1943 as per London Gazette dated 17 August 1943 and AFRO 2507/43 dated 3 December 1943. The citation reads - "This officer has completed a large number of operational sorties. A member of a particularly successful crew, he has participated in nearly all the major attacks delivered against Germany. As flight engineer Pilot Officer Dolby has attained a high degree of efficiency which has been a material factor in the successes achieved." Detail provided by H. Halliday, Orleans, Ontario.
