It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. Pilot - W/O Bob Boorman RCAF Navigator F/S Bill Bryant RAF Flying through the Eiffel Tower."

514 Squadron (Nil Obstare Potest). Aircraft lost without trace during night operations to Leipzig, Germany. addendum 2: 33286. See page 186. Lancaster aircraft LL 681 (J1-J) lost during night operations to Leipzig, Germany. Six RAF members of the crew, F/L. L.J. Kingwell, Sgt.s D.W. Newbury, G.E. Knight, W.A. Bates, H. Taylor, FS. H.M. Wichelow, and WO. H.S. Fidge (RAAF) were also killed. WO. Dodding was 2nd pilot on this trip.
