630 Squadron (Nocturna Mors). Target - Berlin, Germany. Pilot Officer Davis complained of lack of oxygen on approaching the target, the pilot increased the oxygen supply to full strength but Davis was found unconscious in his turret immediately after the target was cleared. Attempts to revive him failed and he died before his Lancaster aircraft JB 294 landed. Icing of his mask and oxygen tube is believed to have been the cause.
