Halifax Mk III LV-955 DT-G was returning from a night electronic data gathering mission over the North Sea seeking information on German airborne radar frequencies when it was shot down by a German Intruder over Fulmodeston Village, Norfolk, England

Flying Officer W Darlington (RCAF), Sergeant JC Anderson (RAFVR), FS RG Holmes (RAFVR), Warrant Officer WS Clementson (RAF) and Sergeant RT Grapes (RAF) were killed. Flying Officer ED Roberts (RAF) and Sergeant KA Sutcliffe (RAF) were rescued, injured, from the wreckage before it was consumed by fire, and Flying Officer RG Todd (RAF), the special operator, was able to parachute safely before the aircraft crashed and was safe
