Took off from Kinloss in Halifax Mk II (Sqn code TL-H Bomber Command) on a bombing raid on the battleship 'Tirpitz', anchored at Asenfjord off the Norwegian coast.

Aircraft crashed into 1000 foot high cliff at Fitful Head, Shetland while approaching RAF Sumburgh, Shetland to land.
