78 Sqn. The aircraft was intercepted and shot down by a night fighter, in a two-minute combat. It crashed at Bosc-Mesnil, Seine-Maritime Departement, France. Sergeant WM Biehl (RAF)(Can), Flying Officer HT Hills (RAF), Sergeant RJ Campbell MiD (RAF), Flying Officer KCM Hayman (RAF), Sergeant MF Dilkes (RAF) and Sergeant SGR Barham (RAF) were killed, Flying Officer E Albon (RAF) missing and has no known grave. Sergeant Biehl was on his second tour, and had been commended for his actions to rescue people after an air raid on London (date unknown) (Allison & Hayward).
