207 Sqn (Semper Paratus). Lancaster III aircraft ND 515 EM-M shot down by a German night-fighter over the target and exploded in mid-air. It crashed 1 Km E of Donnemarie-Dontilly (Seine-et-Marne) 13 Km SE of Nangis. Pilot Officer NG Baskerville (RCAF), Pilot Officer C Bell (RAF), Sergeant R Barker (RAF,) Sergeant RE Dance (RAF), Sergeant HC Jones (RAF), Pilot Officer SH Willes (RAF) and FS RJ Cross (RAF) were killed. addendum: The aircraft exploded in the air and then crashed about 1 km east of Donnemarie-Dontilly. In 1950 the local population erected a stone, carved with the cross of Lorraine, as a memorial to this crew. Detail provided by M. Jewell, Exeter, Eng.
