Operation Jubilee

226 Squadron RAF (Non sibi sed patriae) RAF Thruxton. Boston Mk III aircraft AL736 MQ-P was engaged in an operation to lay smoke screens over the beachhead in support of the Canadian (Operation Jubilee) landings at Dieppe, France. The bomber was shot down by flak as it emerged from a protective smoke screen and crashed into the sea off the Dutch coast

Pilot Officer Robert James Corrigan (RCAF) and Flight Sergeant William Osselton (RAFVR) were missing, presumed killed in action> The missing have no known grave and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial

Flying Officer Stanley Moth (RAFVR) was injured in the crash and taken POW, but the camp was not listed
