Aircraft was sighted over HMS Royal Arthur, Skegness at 60 ft heading due east, showing a red light on the port wing and having a blue flame visible in the cockpit. About 50 yards out the a/c was seen to nose dive into the sea. All the crew members were killed. Only two bodies later washed ashore, the rest are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
