Lancaster ND 733 was on operation to Mailly le Camp, France when after dropping its bombload was attacked by a night fighter and severely damaged. Three of the crew, Flying Officer Edward Yaternick RCAF, and Sergeants JG Pearce and AC Crilley (both RAF) were ordered to bail out and did so. The remaining four members of the crew remained with the aircraft and it crash-landed at Ford. All the crew survived.
