Aircraft shot down in the target area. The crew of three baled out successfully and were made POW.

Murdered: Pilot Officer John Francis Williams RAF Navigator POW Stalag Luft L3 Sagan & Belaria. Williams was one of the escapers in 'The Great Escape'. He was captured near Sagan and was murdered by persons unknown some time after 1944-04-04 along with five other captured officers F/Lt A D M Gunn Pilot Officer W J Grishman Lt C A M McGarr F/Lt H J Milford Flying Officer D O Street. All were cremated and their ashes returned to Stalag Luft L3.
