9 Squadron (Per Noctern Volamus). Lancaster III aircraft JB 116 WS-T went down 19 miles east of Dieppe, France during night operations on a raid against St Leu D'Esserent, France. Pilot Officer J. Wright, Flying Officer G.T. Basedon (RAF), Sergeant I. Feldman (RAF) and Flight Sergeant J.L. Wright (RAF) killed, Pilot Officer G.A.H. Langford (RAF), Sergeant C.G. Fenn (RAF) and Flight Sergeant S.M. Mitchell (RAAF) were taken Prisoner of War. Addendum: - add to the crew list the following. Sgt. J.T. Price (RAF) was also killed and is buried in Beaumont Les Nonains, Oise, France. Detail provided by Joel Huard, Serquigny, France.
