It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. 51 Squadron (Swift And Sure). Halifax aircraft JD 261 missing from a trip to Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Two of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed. Four of the crew, not Canadians missing, believed killed. Addendum: Halifax aircraft JD 261 missing from a trip to Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Five RAF members of the crew, F/O. D.H. Davis, Sgt.s A.W. Fairmaner, A.H. Hawes, A.D. McFarlane, and J. Roberts were also killed.
