77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Halifax aircraft JD 121 was shot down over the target Kassel, Germany. F/Os J.S. Barber (RAF), E.R. Price (RAF), Sergeants V.H. Barnes (RAF), R.O. Hand (RAF), J. Pretsell (RAF), I.M. Smith (RAF), D.W. Stribley (RAF), and FS S.A. Richardson (RAF) were also killed. Sergeant Weber had been shot down into the sea eighty miles northwest of Cape Finisterre on May 17, 1943. The complete crew of the 10 OTU Whitley aircraft survived the crash and were interned in Spain arriving back in the United Kingdom on June 6, 1943.
