15 Operational Training Unit. The pilot of Wellington IC aircraft (DV 932) overshot the landing and attempted a take-off to go around again. The aircraft failed to gain sufficient height and stalled when the pilot tried to turn away from some trees. The Wellington crashed in a field adjacent to the aerodrome at Harwell, England. Radar mechanic Cpl. D. Vail, Leading Aircraftman G.S. Miller, Pilot Officer H.E.J. Giles (RAF), Sergeant J.S.D.S. Haley (RAF) and Sergeant D. Bradshaw (RAF) killed, Sergeant N. Wade (RAF) injured.
